Is updated FAQ rules is implemented on BGA ?

Post by flolem »

For the one that don't know.

An updated FAQ has been posted on thursday june 18th.

this FAQ clarify some questions and can be found here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/245045 ... -june-2020

There is two rules in particular which change how the BGA implementation is played:

How do two double width lanes interact together? Especially when one is a corner?
ON BGA, it was the best scenario. The updated FAQ say, it must be the worst scenario.

If an edge between two spaces is separated side-by-side by two different speedlimits, which one is enforced?
Same as above. on BGa, the highest speedlimit was taken. The updated FAQ say it must be the lowest.

After suffering a LoC during a Flat Out move that was caused, entirely or in part, by track restrictions, can I reorder my dice so as to circumvent these and avoid the LoC?
No. As mentioned in the rules you can reposition your dice « as long as enough are placed to cause a Loss of Control ». This includes the positioning of the dice. You cannot avoid an LoC by repositioning your dice.

FAQ, page 7, I read the following question:
If an edge between two spaces is separated side-by-side by two different speed limits, which one is enforced?
The (automatic) translation into French of this sentence gives this text:
Si un bord entre deux espaces est séparé côte à côte par deux vitesses différentes limites, laquelle est appliquée ?

In French, one thing can separate two others. But to say that a thing is separated by 2 other things is nonsense, from the moment that the one thing retains its integrity.
Could an Anglophone explain how to understand this question, in case it makes sense in English?
What is the edge concerned by this sentence, knowing that a double lane unites two lanes, and therefore that there is no edge between them?

The answer to this question is:
If the limits are two different speeds, the slower limit is applied. If one is a speed limit and one is a hazard, then both are applied.

When I associate the answer "both are applied" to the image on page 7, I deduce that the rule considers that the car would pass at the same time on 2 different lanes (but united in one by the double lane) to undergo both the speed limit and the hazard. In other words, the car splits into two cars when it goes through a double lane.
That is an extraordinary answer!

the picture are pretty self explained in the FAQ: https://box.bestpractice-publishing.com ... 202020.pdf (see two last pages)

Would be glad to have some answer of the developpers (or maybe, we need to add a bug ?) to know when these rules will be fixer on BGA ?

An explanatory image is supposed to be the illustration of a written rule. If the rule is wrong, the image is worthless in itself.
In my previous message, I express my doubts about the consistency of the text and its adequacy with the track configuration represented by the image.

It seems to me that the developer should have other priorities than to comply with a new questionable rule concerning only a small number of proposed circuits on BGA.

Yes, these situations are not everywhere but can be found in many tracks anyway.
The rules are from the designer and the editor... so yes the implementation on BGA should respect these.

Currently on BGA:

A> the automatic /!\ is not applied in situation 1
B> The limit of 1 is not applied in situation 1
C> the maximum applied is 4 instead of 3 in situation 1

We’re not talking about the rules. The English rules and the French rules are signed by the designer Jean-Christophe Bouvier.
The known origin of these rules does not prevent errors and inaccuracies, and that’s why you brought to our attention a complementary document in link in your first message.
Since this complementary document is not signed, you cannot claim that it was produced or validated by this or that person.
If the authorization to numerize Rallyman GT on BGA implies compliance with the rules of the game, I do not think that this implies that the rules are implemented accurately and exhaustively. For example, an important rule (related to the theme) of the game Expedition: Northwest Passage was not implemented.
So there is no hurry to implement the rule changes that would be questionable or unintelligible.

I agree there are no rush.

Just to let us know if and when these change will be done because it change how the game is played for the these specific scenario.
And i agree, it could be complicated to implement the rules without breaking some games...

my first link was a link to BGG (https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/245045 ... -june-2020) WHERE the publisher of the game (holy grail) post the updated FAQ.

Another rule to implement (more easy this one) is the LOC 00 that give 30sec time instead of 2min
