Saying i find it great, i meant i find the function it is offering to be a great improvment. I am not using it, just discovered it's existence reading this thread.

I understand the way you feel about it but I would say 7W is not a memory game, but a strategy game. The strategy would be clearly more valuated if every one could use this tool as a built in option.

I guess there are specific memory games on this site, on a short real time play.

For me it's like playing chess with opening book (not engine) where it shows you how to play "theory" (so you don't have to memorize it).
And I still think it is very questionable, but I understand that for some people it may be way more relaxing to play, but for the tournaments I run I will make it illegal, unless vast majority of the players want to run it.

I guess that this kind of program can hardly be detected so there is probably no way for the admins to prevent people from using it.
This lead to the next point: what if this kind of tool spread into the community?

From my side, as mentioned previously I don't want to use this kind of tool because I think that it is part of the gameplay to keep in mind what is in the other players hands. In the actual board game, we don't show each other what is in our hand so I feel like that the tool changes the gameplay.

However, even if this change doesn't suit me, I understand that some other people have a different point of view and would like to use Pythia. That's perfectly fair but I guess that it is fair only if the other players are ok to allow Pythia.

This brings me to the following point: is there a way to add an "Allow Pythia" option, like we have the option to select wonder side, amount of players etc...?

I don't know how complex it would be to enable such an option but even if it would be mroe fair, I guess that it would probably not prevent someone from cheating by modifying the Pythia script to be working on "No Pythia" game. And this pretty scares me as I like to play 7 Wonders in BGA but if Pythia-like "helpers" spreads amoung players without control, it is going to change the experience in a way that doesn't suit me.

In theory - easily, but will require development effort from BGA.

Sure, you will have to work on your strategy a lot more to retain your current rank. But as I gathered from feedback, nobody wants to do that lol.

Pythia v0.4 released!

Please go to https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/406492-bga-pythia to upgrade.

As usual, if you have suggestions of ideas for new functionality - let me know!

New in v0.4
  • Better UI for cards - they are now placed within player's board space
  • Pythia now marks leader and runner up players with solid border around their wonder, also adding this the position before players name. Pythia uses total score based on future war results (also a Pythia feature), so this highlight might be different from BGA scores, but it is actually correct.

It's defiantly cheating. It would be like playing in person where one player got to look at all of the cards in all the hands, and all the other players only got to see their own cards. Tell me that would not be cheating.

Either all players in a particular should be using it, or none. Otherwise it provides an unfair advantage, like an aiming bot in a shooter (they sure don't win a game on their own, but they do provide an advantage).

So yes, if only some players are using it during a particular game - it is a form of cheating.

"Features - version 0.4
Likely player cards. Pythia will remember which cards were played and passed around, and will show what every player is likely to hold in his or her hand."

How is this possible? How can Pythia show what is likely in other player's hand? For a 3 player game, it's easy - whatever was not seen in the 1st and 2nd hands, is on the 3rd (unseen hand). But for say 7 players, how can Pythia tell?

I think since it is a known pool it will just show you what is coming to you. This is getting more and more cheaty, please the author take it down?

It works like this.
  1. You got 7 cards at the start of the age and played Stone.
  2. Pythia remembers which 6 cards you passed to the 2nd player. Then this player played East Trading Post.
  3. Meanwhile, you got 6 cards from 3rd player and played Garrison.
  4. Pythia knows that 3rd player has your inital hand without Stone and East Trading Post. And that 2nd player has your second hand without Garrison.
  5. And so on.
It can never predict what is in the hand until it sees it in your own hand. Then it remembers what was played in the open and has passed hands. Also, if someone discards or build a wonder stage - Pythia has no idea what card was used and will not show magically detect which cards are truly in the next player's hand. That's why it is prediction, but very close to truth.

For 7 player game, cards feature of Pythia is virtually useless because you never see a hand twice in a game.
