Completely confused about a forced crash.

Post by DrewZ »

Ok, here's a move I made that caused a forced crash:

I don't know where I crossed the line. I went through the turn in 3rd gear, my white "coasting" die is on a 3-spot, and I thought changing lanes helped you avoid the 2nd-gear limitation, but it said I crossed a 2nd gear limit in 3rd. What am I getting wrong?

The problem is with the transition between your car the 4th gear die. The speed limit in the next space was 2nd gear. So if you were in 3rd as indicated by your car, either you had to go left into the middle lane coming out of the turn, or drop down to 2nd gear in the spot where the 4th gear die is.

In other words, no matter which direction your pass over a number on a dotted line, i.e., whether entering or exiting a turn, the speed limit in the next space is determined by that number. See page 12 of the rulebook.

Meeplelowda is right. Directly from FAQs:

Dotted gear number Symbol:
When you cross a "Dotted Gear symbol"on the track, you have to occupy the space AFTER the crossed symbol in that march (or lower)
You crossed the "...2..." symbol in gear 4 instead gear 2 or lower.

THAT"S the problem, I was completely looking at the wrong curve. I was focused on the 3rd gear actions in the curve that's in the middle of the screen shot, where it appears I didn't do anything wrong. I totally missed the fact it was my very first move, 2nd to 4th on the left side of the screen, that was the problem. I totally get the auto-crash now, because it happened where I wasn't looking.

Thanks for the help!
