4 player Arena is so different to 3 player

Post by frogstar_A »

I'm staggered how different 4 player 7 Wonders is to 3 player!

In 3 player I effortlessly cruised to the Elite league and 300 ELO.

With 4 player I am now down to 150 ELO, have won no shields at all in the Arena and come last every game.

I feel like I need to re-learn the game all over again - much more resource war going on, and a bit more random too.

Yeah, they are completely different, especially when you're used to the 3p game. This arena season the first time I played I went like -200 rating in points. I think once you get used to it, it'll be fine. It is important to notice the gray resources (they are in such low amounts) and whether you're blocking them from the person opposing to you or if they're blocking them to you. Also, there are plenty of brown resources. Although, weirdly enough, I do occasionally find that Hali can be in a good place to get blocked out of first stage in age 1 and has to play 2x ore in age 2. So, brown blocking does occur but it is less frequent than in 3p. Also, I feel like the military game is vastly different than in 3p as well. There are 5 cards in age 3 for military instead of 3. And if the person sitting opposing to you decided to just ignore military, it can be rough and you feel like you're at a disadvantage and your neighbors get points for free, although if they play too few red cards, good players would usually punish them in that position. It is a different game for sure.

I think that's one of the problems - I've also had it where the person sat opposite plays all the grey resources, for example, allowing my neighbours easy access but not me!
