Allow conceding in tournament Chess matches

I am unfortunately done with Chess tournaments on BGA for now because of continually having to play out the excruciating end of a match. There is no good reason to prevent conceding in the case of Chess as there is no way to score more than 1 point from winning.

It has become apparent to me that they are some people on BGA who do not even understand the concept of resigning (conceding) in chess or other games where, as you say, there is nothing more for the victor to gain by having the opponent play out a lost position. Having played a fair number of chess tournaments over-the-board, this attitude is completely alien to me.

There is no good reason, IMO to not allow conceding in ANY 2-player game tournament or otherwise. It's annoying to have to platy out the end of a lost Carcassonne or Senet or Backgammon or Kingdomino, just as much as it is in chess.

Check out the thread about this in the "Hive" forum. According to some people this is crazy talk, and I got flamed for saying "no one" would get upset about someone resigning a lost position in chess because I had presumptuously ignored the mindset of someone who apparently likes wasting time.

I get that some people get upset about it, but that doesn't count as a "good reason" in my book. It's unethical to force a player to play out the remains of a two-player game that they feel they've lost. My right not to have my time wasted is stronger than my opponent's right to see the already concluded game play-out.

I don't know. I like finishing Kingdomino. I would hate someone to give up and leave my game unfinished.

Chess is different. If I am a long way ahead, I don't really want to grind a result out if I can't think of a clever way to end the game.

One key difference is that there is no random element in chess and that can make results a foregone conclusion once a few pieces have been lost.
