Resumption of game after BGA server problems

Post by wallaceprime »

I was playing Carcassonne this morning (https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=111281847) when the server crashed while it was my turn to play. Due to this, my time went negative. When the server was fixed and the game resumed, my opponent must have immediately hit the 'skip other player's turn' button to win by default. As well as being very unsporting, this is particularly annoying as I was in a very strong position up the point the server went down and was likely to win against a much higher ranking player.

It would be fairer if real-time games were either: cancelled when the server was resumed (no points won or lost); or converted to turns-based (so no pressure to resume immediately); or resumed normally but with the time remaining reset as if it was the beginning of a game.
