Unfair moderations

• Player X reports against Player A. This is the last involvement Player X ever has, not even receiving notification of the outcome.

I should also add that the report author can comment on the report until the report is closed with a verdict. Though this sees little utilization due to the lack of notifications to the report author when calls for additional information is made and the difficulties in locating said report. Calls for additional information is also rarely necessary due to the game histories being freely available and the requirement of the report author to specify the offense.

I think it may also be nice to recycle the moderators every so often, as clearly (based on the quantity of complaints in the forums), some of them are not doing their jobs very well. The moderators should also read the moderation policy; despite reporting a dozen or so players for having multiple accounts I have not seen a single instance of the moderation policy being employed.

As a side not to all respondents in this thread: Please keep it civil and on-topic. General whining about a situation without identifying a specific item to take action on, or proposing a solution, is worthless. Insultive threads about moderation tend to be quickly locked, stifling further discussion.

Just thought this bears repeating.

Also, realize that much of the information about moderation in the forums is posted by people who have been moderated. That means that they have had a report filed against them, and been found guilty of violating the policies. Any information presented by them will be biased.

I've started checking people's karma scores in these kinds of threads to see how seriously I should take these threads. Since your karma is 100% you are worth discussing this with.

I think I'm about to lose a bunch of karma, because of a bug in Quantum that even prevented me from accessing the Abandon menu/the chat. Might even receive a couple of redthumbs for that, The bug has only 3 upvotes so far and it is unlikely that it will be fixed anytime soon.

There's a post in the tournaments thread right now about accidentally joining a real-time tournament and losing like 70 karma.

These are two cases I could think of, that are happening right now, but I'm sure there are plenty more.

Basically, shit happens. The Karma system isn't perfect. Just because someone's karma isn't 100% doesn't mean their opinion isn't valid, or they aren't trustworthy/honest. Could be a victim of bad luck/imperfection of the system.

Multi-moderation multiaccount users generally do not have low karma, as they just start and immediately concede games to gain karma.
Single account users can do the same so long as they have a willing partner.

Low karma users that levy their grievances on the forum may in a sense be more trustworthy because they do not exploit any such karma gains.

Trouble is that players who complain about being moderated have always got a sob story about why it's not their fault, just the evil mods that have it in for them.

Whilst the mods may not always make the right decision, they do at least have all the information. I don't. All I have to go on is their karma score and how they choose to conduct themselves in making a complaint.

So I have a look at their karma and if I see a lot of penalties for abandoning games etc then I take that into account. It's not perfect but it's all I've got.

Though there have been several public red thumb posts that have been mistaken as moderation actions, which usually are accompanied with "I didn't do anything!" claims.

And how many complaints of other kinds have you seen?
