Those acronyms immediately bring "GoT" (Game of Thrones) to mind. Maybe it isn't "the most common word in english" but just "a common word", something like the word "yes". GG and YES gives "Gyges".

No it couldn't since the OP has already stated the most common word here on BGA is in fact GG (see page 1).

GoT was what I was thinking of as well when I saw those "word" combinations, but it can't be that. I really hope it's not GYGES though.
