Concept

Post by Tisaac »

Hi all,

I'm back again with an UFO this time: is it a game ? Expert are still arguing.... I'm of course talking about Concept !
As this is indeed a strange game, notice that there should not be any ELO rating in the future, nor any Arena, maybe even no winner.
The game should be playable but notice that there is no ending at the moment, so players should agree to finish whenever they want.
Here is the link for reviewer : reviewer?game=concept
Non-reviewer player wanting to test the game can PM me.

Feel free to share your thoughts on the group page :)

Thank

Thanks a lot for this game :D
Here some issues we found:

BUGS:
-The board scrolls down by itself during the game; the more it lasts, the more there is an empty space between the top of the page and the board. This may be related with the deletion of the board.

-Sometimes, it becomes impossible to chat. When you are in that case, if you are a guesser, the board disappears if you refresh the page. If you are the one who gives the clues, the pop-ups can no longer be shown and you can't interact with the board (adding or removing elements) anymore. There is no other choice then than to forfeit the game.

POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS:
-Auto-remove the pawns between rounds (otherwise, the new clue giver must do it manually).

-Add the pop-ups on the clue synthesis too (currently, they are only visible on the board).

-With the "snap" mode on, when clicking on a field which can host cubes, or ? or !, add the trash symbol to remove what is currently on this field directly.

-For scoring purposes, when the clue giver validates the answer of somebody, let the other the possibility to contest the decision because somebody could have given the answer (or an acceptable equivalent) before. This way, the determination of the winner of the round could be final with no injustice.
For example: to be found George W. Bush
Player A says "Bush", player C who is the clue giver does not see it
Player B says "Washington"
Player A says "Abraham Lincoln"
Player A says "Obama"
Player B says "George Bush": checked as the correct answer by player C.
In that situation, player A should score because they give the answer before B.

-Remove the possibility to use 2 or more question marks or exclamation marks of the same color (because it is only possible to use each of them once in the physical game since there is no copy of those pawns).

-On the contrary, maybe add the possibility to use MORE than 5 cubes of each color (to indicate numbers > 5 for instance).

Thanks a lot!
Hope you can do something about this, even if you did a great job so far.
Don't hesitate to contact me if some precisions are needed.

Anyway, I'm glad to have the possibility to play this game with my friends, so many thanks again!
Cheers,

Woodruff

For now I didn't succeed in playing any 2nd round, it's buggy, it seems the players don't see the clues.

Also for turn-by-turn play, clues are given, a player comes, gives the answer, it's accepted, during that the other players didn't get a chance to guess.
Maybe wait some time, hide the proposed answers, or show them if marked wrong.

Like https://skribbl.io

You could auto-accept good answers, when the word is exactly the same.

Please fill a bug report associated with your table. I don't see why hiding answers would be a good thing, this is not the same goal as in skribbl, there is only one person guessing right, there is no point in letting other guess after that.
I think auto-accept would be quite bad since someone who guessed correctly with a typo could be "stolen" his point from someone writing the same thing without typo afterwise.

Please feel free to use the bug/suggestion tracker next time, it will be easier for me to track and to give feedback on my progress, and you will also see which bugs were already detected by others and upvote them.
Most of your bugs/suggestions are now fixed/implemented, with the exception of :
- no contestation for winning : this is not a competitive game, there is no point of doing that
- clearing what is inside one particular symbol does't really make sense, it's more important to be able to clear one specific color (which is implemented).
