The game has become unplayable for at least the 2 games stat started yesterday in old layout and are now in the new. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=27561 & https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=27565 (and see all the other bug reports flowing in)

The layout looks pritty, i really love that. But on phone you don't have the play/discard buttons and can only use drag and drop-method. But you cant go beyond the discard pile, my finger was already on the edge of my screen and the card still hovered half-way above the discard pile. At least give us a confirmation button for the drag and drop button. And fix the drag and drop function on phone-view please. (Also we would also like the option to have the stacked variant on smaller (phone) screens)

I have to admit I am very disappointed about this release. As an alpha reviewer I mentioned the problem with the drag&drop on mobile since about 1 month. It was completely ignored. Why do you have alpha review phase if the comments are ignored?
Also mentioned that the buttons are missing on mobile.

I hope you will either roll back or at least enable the old way as a setting. Once announced I will play again. Now I cannot comfortably do that as I play on mobile 90% of the time

I was much happier playing on the old interface. I find the new interface very user-unfriendly and not just, I believe, because I'm unfamiliar with it. Many things are much less clear to new and old players alike.

Here's a list of changes which, for me, make the new interface worst than the old:

The newest cards of the player opposite me are now on my right, their left, but my newest cards are on my left (the previous list view was much clearer).
Cluing requires a click on a card, reading text and then, clicking again (previous interface was much clearer and totally language independent).
The colours are more pastel and less clear now, especially the rainbow colour.
Cards are thinner (easier to misclick, less clear).
The discard pile is coloured numbers rather than cards.

Maybe I'll just get used to it and learn not to care and the changes have definitely made the game closer to how the game is played in person, but first impressions are that these changes have made the online playing experience much worse, not better.

Glad to hear that!

But sad that as mentioned here, this wasn't picked up earlier!

Have you tried to click the top right icon once you're in the game ?

This new UI is HORRIBLE!

1. The amount of mistakes is harder to see because it is just some random background color, not the clear 1-2-3 mistake tokens we had before.

2. Giving a clue is even worse now. Have to select a card, then "more options", then finding what you want to give. This takes 3-4 clicks each time whereas we used to have 2 clicks every time. Horrible. Shame!

3. My cards go left to right but for other players they go right to left. Playing online should be easier not harder.

4. UI is now very hard to understand. Discarded cards are on a much smaller UI. And even on my large screen, I have to scroll down to see what there is. Knowing what has been discarded is a key element in Hanabi and you made it much worse.

5. The cards are actually much harder to understand now. Why are they so tall? Bring back regular sized cards. I get that the icons are for the color blind but you did not have to bring in these new graphics.

And all this was after the first game. I will update it after another game.

Edit: After the second game:
Do you even play Hanabi at all? The game is much slower to play now.

1. Why are the cards so tall? You could cut the top halves off and save a lot of room. Much easier to play with the old player layout settings too then.

2. The UI is wasting a lot of space on empty space now. This is horrible layout of things.

3. When giving clues, why is there a lot of text about what clue you are going to give? This is much more confusing than a simple number/color. This is going to slow the games down at least 2x now. Horrible. DEFINITELY FIX GIVING CLUES! It is a basic UI practice to not allow different buttons to overlap. With this clue giving dropdown, it gets much harder to find what clue you want to give. You have to carefully read every time. And even then players are going to make mistakes and this will be even more infuriating to yourself because you read all of it and still clicked the wrong button. HORRIBLE!!!

4. When you play by drag-drop, it is much slower to discard because the discard area is on the opposite side of the screen. Used to be so that you just drag down and release. Similarly with playing cards.

5. Overall, the layout is all over the place now. You have to keep an eye on the whole screen at once. Used to be much less tiring on the eyes. HORRIBLE!

6. What is is with the fonts of the numbers? Just use Arial or even Comic Sans. That fake painted number is tiring on the eye in the long run.

7. One good thing is that I can start dragging and dropping on other players turns now. Especially if I anticipate what he is about to do.

8. Seriously, functionality over graphics. This version is really hard to use and I will probably stop buying premium account now because of this.

9. If anything needed to be updated, it would have been to also display negative clues on cards.

10. I get that you want to copy the graphics of the new Hanabi. Still, it does not translate well for the PC screen. The tall cards are horrible. Just use the old graphics or make your own. Even the real life version seems really hard to use. Regular sized cards are much better to handle. Seriously, seems like the developers didn't even try to play the old Hanabi much before creating the new version. It is just so unintuitive and full of bad UI/UX features. Must redo everything.

11. And the discarded cards are organized by number not by when they were discarded. This is also bad. The old way it was better to understand the "history" of discarded cards and deduct from that information.

Please read the news: it is explained how to get back the "old way".
Except that that doesn't work on phone's as well... (Working on a bug report for that)

The old simple interface was perfect for Hanabi.

The new interface is terrible. It is graphically busy, clues are more difficult to read and the action interface is not intuitive ... it is a downgrade ... regardless of whether you arrange players in a list or around the table. Please bring back the old interface!
