So. I am very aware that people usually strongly dislike new versions until they don't so I'm trying to keep that in mind.
- my main critique is that in table mode, everything seem too big and I had to scroll a lot. For me, it does not look like in the example picture, the discard pile is barely visible. I have a widescreen and normal screen here and both didn't work well. On the smaller screen, I needed to scroll to see my own cards even. My friend also couldn't see the discard pile. Maybe making the cards shorter would already help? (Friend and I both use Firefox)
- We were grateful someone pointed out the stacked mode, this fixed the scrolling problem and it avoided the problem of getting used to the "mirrored" card arrangement which was really uncomfortable for us the first two games
- the way to give tips doesn't really seem like an improvement, but I'm guessing that is one of the things we'll get used to quickly - although giving the wrong clue accidentally seems to be more likely than before
- Could you add a short description to Black Powder (like "10 black cards") and 5 flamboyants (like "6 bonus tiles") to the playing options so its easier to understand what this is?
Some optics:
- the black color for the used clue background as well as the players hand look a bit off, too strong. Maybe making it a dark grey would make it prettier
- It would maybe also make sense to stick to the (pretty) rounded edges for the player hand and playing board
- the "last turn" writing seems squished and difficult to read (even more so on stacked mode?)
- the playing board or mat underneath the played cards doesn't really fit with 6 colors.
The design of the cards looks good. The card indicators too, also they also increase the space taken up.
I liked the "boom" effect when it happened but I didn't notice the boom counter and wouldn't know if I hadn't read the announcement here.
