I feel like I am using all my brainpower trying to keep straight whose cards go which way and which ones are new/old and can't put any brainpower to strategizing with the around the table view. Can you explain how to get to the setting to make it stacked? I've looked everywhere and I can't find where to change that setting.
When in the game, look below the play area, to where you find things like the rules of the game. Information is presented there in a number of tabs. One of the tabs is “Options”. Select that. That will show you a few options to customise how the game works for you; there’s only about three of them. I don’t remember what the relevant option is called, but it’s pretty obvious once you’ve gotten to that tab.
NaceWindu wrote: 07 November 2020, 02:57Edit: Also, I'd argue it makes the game less accessible to new players. It's hard to explain the cluing convention when everyone's cards come in at a different spot, forget trying to explain more advanced techniques like finesse.
I wouldn’t explain the cluing convention to a player that new at all. When players are just told what the conventions are, they often don’t gain an understanding of why the convention exists, and that leads to an inability to correctly interpret clues in more complex situations. There’s a fairly natural learning progression for the early stages of Hanabi, and it helps new players to explore the game and go through those stages fairly naturally.

So, rather than telling players that they are expected to play from the left, I explain that a clue is most likely about a newer card. I let them figure out where that card is.

And if explaining in table view, when positions are to be noted, use clockwise and anti-clockwise (or widdershins if you prefer) rather than left or right.

I found on iPad that the numbers clued above cards were too big and obscured. But if you “request mobile website” from the AA symbol in the web address bar, the numbers are the right size.

May we have a game option for how clues are given? The old system was very User-friendly.

I have taught many new players how to play, and the interface was NEVER a distraction in their decision making. Now the interface is more difficult to learn than the game.

That’s on Safari for iOS, right?

I’m on an iPad, but I use Chrome by default. The new interface fits well and looks good in that, without the problem you describe.

The clue menus are very small on Chrome for iOS. It would help if they were larger.

I like that there is still a stacked option and I'm getting used to playing with the new way to clue but something about the new design really hurts my eyes (not trying to insult how it looks). I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing eye strain like I am? I'm having trouble playing more than one game without needing to rest my eyes which I didn't have with the old hanabi or any other bga games. Also it is much more clunky to play on my phone, I end up zooming in and out on my screen in order to give clues and have misclicked more than I like. I'm not sure what the solution to either of these issues is.
Thank you to the developers for continuing to work on this game.

Travis Hall wrote: 07 November 2020, 03:00 By now, I expect the Hanabi developers to have decided what their top priority for improvements are, and to be working through them. Some fixes may have been deemed high enough priority to be released as soon as they are ready, while others may wait until they have completed a full set of changes or reach the end of a time box. Either way, your additional feedback won’t be looked at until they are done with that and ready to prioritise new work (and once they are, having the feedback in a list of tickets is more useful than wading through forums to find it.

Unless it’s really groundbreaking. But so far, it’s not.
Well, looking at the last replies in the other thread, it seems like they are not going to fix how giving clues works. And that has been the main issue that regular Hanabi players have with the new version.

So far, all those who have liked how the game looks now, have had less than 100 games. But everyone who actually regularly plays definitely hates how the games have been running slower than before.

that's it xd
idk why so many people hates it
The popular version can be viewed in 1 screen but now I have to scroll all over the place even on a PC huge screen.
I don't know why 400 testers like this new layout.

My suggest for giving clue:

1)click directly on the number or color logo on a specific card (therefore make the numbers and the color logo clickable directly) and that if you hover the mouse over the number or color logo of a card, the cards that will be clued come out from the batch up (as is already the case) to clearly visualize what will e clueded
2) to give a blindclue or to play in multicolored, it is necessary to leave the choice to choose any color / number, therefore in addition to the "direct clue" proposed in point 1), it would be necessary that when one clicks ( smartphone version) or when you hover the cursor (computer version) on a map, the complete menu (like that of the old version but remastered with the colored logos) is displayed as a tooltip to select our choice of index.

So we keep your idea of first selecting the card and then clicking, but we keep the legibility of the numbers and symbols so appreciated. It even adds a plus with the direct clue from point 1) which will be even faster than before because with just one click.
Point 1 and 2) must absolutely coexist to leave the possibility of blind clue and playing effectively in multicolored

The most constructive suggestion I can give is - fire the developer immediately.
The more I try to play the game the more despicable this horror becomes. I will give it a few more days to see how things develop and then I'm canceling my subscription.
