Expectations of someone to quit

I started a game of Spades because I saw it was new out here. However, I struggled in the first few hands and then my partner to be to quit. I responded that I don't quit and I was going to play it out. He continued to insist to the point of threatening to red thumb me. I told him to go ahead. Eventually, I tried to abandoned the game, but he insisted I quit.

Is there some expectation that someone quit, if they are poorly playing or is this guy just being a jerk?

I know almost nothing about Spades, but it looks like a team game and I guess your partner didn't feel he deserved to lose any Elo for your team's loss. However, pressuring a teammate to quit is completely unacceptable behavior. I'd report this player, assuming you didn't reply in any way that could be construed as insulting.
