I'd also like to suggest adding an option to replace the x2 multiplier bonuses with +$2 additive bonuses instead, including the Q card. Alternatively, add an option to change the multiplier stacking so that two x2 bonuses results in a x3, not a x4 (and a x4 instead of x8 for three x2 bonuses). I think either of these (preferably the former) would make games' outcomes more consistently tight between two players of roughly equal experience.

Is that an official variant ? If not, BGA is not making house rules, so you would need to convince the publisher first before this can be implemented here.

Ah, I hadn't considered that. Convincing the publisher sounds like an uphill battle, so I'll just stick to the word games in my collection. Thanks for the responses, though.

That really depends on the publisher, some are very open to suggestions. You can try to post on the BGG forum and you'll see if you get any answer from him or other people

Loving this game so far, thanks to the BGA team and the game designer (Brad Brooks) for making it

I agree totally about the B J combination being too strong. J by itself is also too stron. It's so easy to just bang out common 3 vowel 6s like RATION, DONATE, MENACE, SOAPED etc to earn 10 pts a game.

By the way for those of you on here who like to play word games, here's a couple:

Apterous

• Online version of the UK gameshow Countdown
• Uses a different dictionary
• The regular players are all incredibly good, so if you do give it a try you will need to be patient and persistent before you find yourself with a chance of winning many games

Word Ladders

• An app I made and published myself (Android only)
• Based on Word Ladder puzzles from puzzle magazines and newspapers
• Consists of 3 4 and 5 letter words at the moment
