This is probably going to be the crux of our disagreement, then. If you don't like BGA's rules, you do have the option of creating your own website, getting permission from all the publishers to host the games, and programming them yourself, and attract users. Or, you can go to a different website.

If you don't like the laws of the community/country you are in, you have the option of creating your own country (although this normally involves significant military power), or transfer to a country that has laws more to your liking. But until then, you need to abide by the rules of the community.

And finally, do not use Board Game Arena communication resources to advertise other gaming websites. If you want to talk about your experience elsewhere, please just say something like 'on another gaming website'.
This block as a whole is not limited to "advertising." The second sentence is not merely restating and explaining the first sentence; it is expanding its scope. Whether you think this policy is silly is a matter of personal opinion.

Thx everyone for your answers especially Jest Phulin.
I don't want to make a big case of it, even if I must confess I often like a good debate as much as a good game. ;)
but I'd like to answer and complete.
First: i didnt use the term silly to qualify the rule I'm discussing. My post on this forum was just asking for an explanation.
Second : bga states :
Board Game Arena is indeed a community website that exists and has grown through the contributions of many passionate players.
Board Game Arena is a community website: it exists thanks to you

This allows and even urges the member to contribute actively not to follow the rules without thinking.
Third: the warning message I received in a chat during a game pretended that the french board game playing website I was referring to was "in violation on copyright laws" and this is intriguing and should be explained. Strangely another player mentioned this website in a forum with a link and it's not blocked by bga.
Fourth: this one is especially for the argument with Jest Phulin: what do you think of your famous fellow citizen David Thoreau statements about civil disobedience? ;)

Strange. I recall making a post about this, but that post is no longer here. Perhaps I hit Preview instead of Submit.

But if you want civil disobedience on this site, it can be done just like against a government. Set up your own site (including getting the licenses from the publishers, programming the games, and attracting users). Just like setting up a new government will probably take some effort :)

And as much as I enjoy a debate also, we probably shouldn't be spamming the forums with this. I probably won't respond to this again.
