Slower animations PLEASE

Post by JusterGame »

In many games there are times when moves/decisions can be determined by the rules and enacted by the software. For example, at the end of the Tokaido road, and when bandits' actions cannot be completed in Colt Express.

BGA and its treasure trove of games provides much more than just the thrill of winning – it provides great pleasure from the simple process of playing, just as real board games on real tables do ... where humans can move only at human speed.

I fear there may be oodles of users who cannot follow some (many?) of BGA's lightning speed animations. I think that software controlled actions across the BGA board (sorry: pun unintended) would benefit from SLOWER animations, so that people can APPRECIATE more easily what is happening, and without having to refer to the game-record to overcome their bewilderment (doesn't 6Nimmt behave a bit like this?) Thus might (fun-players especially) gain a greater sense of involvement in the game: got-to-get-to-a-win guys would lose but seconds of their lives.

With fingers crossed that this  might be warmly accepted.

I actually have players complaining that some animations are too slow in some of my games... So I don't think there is a perfect solution here.

Feel like it could be done with the 'slow time' in real time.

I use it mainly (but not entierely) when I discover a game, or make another player discover a game.

How about a personal slider that lets each player choose the delay between animations?

Has beri got the answer to this issue ... almost ?

Might it be possible when one is setting up a table to be able to CHOOSE something like "reduce animation speed" - with options of 10% and 15% ??

A personal slider, beri, would affect everybody else that's playing, and might not be appreciated. But a 'table-setup' shows all who want to join just what the conditions of play will be - it gives the table creator and potential players a choice.

and sorry, Tisaac, but me & mine still find such things as the incomprehensible torrent of flying bonuses at the end of Tokaido pleasure reducing ...

Dear BGA Developers.

Thanks so much for the person that made the scoring in Alhambra so clear .... especially since it happens below breakneck speed. :D
It would be lovely if the end of Tokaido could be similarly user friendly ....
