Private beta?

Post by mavit »

Wiki page https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/BGA_game_Lifecycle mentions a “private beta” phase. Am I right in thinking that this step no-longer exists, having been replaced by the alpha review process?

The wiki page currently says that to reach beta you must wait for BGA to “give a "go"”, but this is contradicted by the email that developers receive when their game moves to alpha.

Yes, this document is outdated, but not completely wrong.

Private beta no longer exists. Publisher review happens in alpha, currently.

Also public beta is not tied to announcement any more, but still need to be approved by us (and publisher) after receiving 10 approvals from reviewers.

Also it is currently possible to have private alpha in which the game is not accessible by reviewers, but can be accessed to list of specific players (added to publicly non accessible players' group).
