At sometime since the beginning of the month the reference time has changed.

The error message says:
"Your gift is not ready yet! We are using the time in Paris for the calendar releases (xx hours left)"
but the XX is now calculated based on local time! :)

Are you living in Paris? :D
We use our server time, so it shouldn't change. Note the time left is rounded upwards.

Here on the east coast of the US I’ve seen the same thing each day. The new game shows up as a latest release on the games page at 6pm (midnight Paris time) but I can’t actually open the day’s game on the advent calendar until midnight local time (6 hours later)—even though the message says it is using Paris time. Obviously a very minor issue in the grand scheme of things :-) Thanks for putting together this fun way of releasing the games this month!

Oooh you must be right. Easy to forget something about time zones. I'll check that.

Should be fixed now. Thanks for describing the issue really clearly!

Thanks! I just checked and the message when I try to open tomorrow’s present early now shows 10 hours remaining which matches up with midnight Paris time and 6pm local time so it does look like it’s fixed. I’ll confirm tonight when I actually open the present :-)

The countdown was accurate up until 6pm local time (midnight Paris time) but instead of allowing me to open the next game at 6pm it reset the countdown to 24 hours (with the latest game I could open still set to Concept). Checked from mobile and my laptop after clearing the cache but both say it's another 24 hours (23 now) before I can open the next game (although I see Haiclue on the latest releases section of the Games page).

Hmm... Back to how it was before then. Better to have something stable even if not completely accurate. Timezones are tricky :D
Thanks for the feedback.

Many of these games were already on the game list before being revealed on the calendar. Was this a mistake? Were they just in beta before and now being on the calendar is the announcement they are out of beta?

Yes, they are released now. Bêta and alpha are not same as release (for instance no arena until release)
