Why would people stop playing just before winning

Hello,

wandering through turn by turn games, I have encountered a few games were a player (different players) would stop just before winning, and even after chosing the winning move, but not playing it.
Any idea why they could do it ? (I asked one once, never got a reply)

This seems to be a reoccuring bug, see also the following forum.

If you message the player the table link this might fix it, since the player might be completely unaware that table is waiting for them.
