Reviewer guidelines regarding browser support?

Post by Spiegel428 »

I have an old device that works fine for some games but not others and that made me wonder about browser support. The common issues that I've noticed are elements completely overlapping or the game freezing in the "opening the box" screen.

I've found that the dev checklist on the wiki says "Game works in Chrome and Firefox browsers at least. Also very recommended to test in IE 11 and Edge". Does that mean that reviewers shouldn't go out of their way to test in Safari, because it won't be worth implementing? What about older versions of the other browsers? Should there be a message alerting the player that they're on an unsupported browser?

I think it'd be nice to have clarification on this included in the "guidelines for reviewers" post.

It's a bit of a greyzone. We (developpers) have discussed that matter several time with Jurica and the new target for browser support is around 95%, probably a bit less, so Safari is probably a must go, but maybe Safari on tablets is not (don't have figures in mind).
