Conceding a game on the last turn

Hi all,

I just played a game of Seasons, it took around 25-30 minutes and on the last turn my opponent conceded. Admittedly I was going to win by a big margin, but even so, it is a little annoying after putting the time into the game particularly when I was trying to beat my high score

I like that it is possible to concede (though I've never done so) but perhaps there could be an option for the longer games, (Seasons, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Troyes) that a player can't concede once the game has progressed more than a certain percentage (80% seems about right to me). What does anyone else think?

At most only care about winning, there is no record indicating net who scored a win with the highest score.

So you were clearly going to win by a large margin and you still tried to run the score up as high as possible in an effort to beat a high score? It would not surprise me that your opponent ended the game, I think many would consider what you did bad form.

If you are in a situation where you will win no matter what the play is, just get it over, don't drag out the other person's loss and kick them while they are down.

Why do you read this as extending the game to 'kick' the opponent? I wasn't dragging it out, in fact, I was trying to end it quickly. I just thought it petulant that the other player quit just as he was about to lose.

he was probably in a hurry, or frustrated. this site isn't like the typical online gaming world (thinking of RTS games here), where it's perfectly normal to type in "gg" and leave at any point of the game if you see you're far behind.
so, i don't think disabling the option of conceding would solve anything. there will always be different types of players (nice casual ones, and hasty "internet gaming" ones...).

also, imagine a loong 3+ player game in which 1 players needs to leave, but can't.
being unable to regularly concede a game springs up more problems than it solves, surely.
