It would be very, very handy if I could rename my friends.

You can add a personal note to them.

Yeah, but to see notes, you need to enter a table with them or their profile, one by one.
Notes would work nicer, for example, if in the frinends list after you hoover over a name there would be a tooltip displayed with this note.
