Needs some BGA specific rules

Post by RobertBr »

I only became aware of this with the public announcement but my immediate comment is the need for some BGA specific explanation. A lot of the interface feels like trying to decrypt some secret code. For example take the second training scenario. If you follow the published rules 6.3.2 you should be able to click on the Nor unit, click Naval Transport, then click on confirm then the sea zone. You've done exactly what the paper rules specify but you just get a can't stay at sea error because the computer doesn't understand what move you are trying to make and you haven't learnt whatever arcane code is needed to tell it.

It needs some training but all is logical (I hope we have same logic!)

If you want a Naval transport:
- Activate unit
- Click on "Naval Transport"
- If an escort is available: select or not an escort and click on "Choose escort"
- Create a naval path by clicking somewhere (try to understand clicking logic, you can extend or reduce path by clicking in highlighted hexes)
- But when you 'Confirm Path', you must have ended it with a port or a sea zone.

For Amphibious invasion, read this thread: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 16&t=18183

I had managed to work that out though it is hardly intuitive. The issue after more clicking is that in the Scandinavia 1940 scenario you cannot do it on the first turn for reasons which are unclear (a convoy from Hamburg can go West so I cannot see why the straits limitation would be in effect).
In any case there are a lot of things like this, such as having to click on the unit to end its activation which of course are not covered in a rule book for a paper copy which could do with a BGA specific set of instructions.

You CAN do it during first turn but it's better to have paratroopers support for invasion. So it''s better to invade north of Norway first.
Invasion must be a success, so it's better to have near 100% chance of success (clear weather + naval support + air support + paratroopers)

Message is send, development on BGA is voluntary, so any help will be welcome.

Just to be clear it cannot be done on the first turn. You do all the same clicks but the Oslo square just doesn't highlight. This might be a bug or it might be something to do with the straits rule or a it might be scenario specific, but it is what caused me confusion as I wanted to try out the invasion rule and was doing what I was subsequently able to do on the second turn but just getting no response.

You CAN do it first turn.
Perhaps you can't because you was under SEVERE weather (no invasion allowed).

Try this scenario first with good weather condition: select Jul/Aug for month of invasion.
