How long do I have to wait for a new player to accept a game?

I tried playing Hanabi in real-time. I was matched with someone and waited five or ten minutes and they never accepted the game. Went to sleep and then woke up to a notification saying I had abandoned it or something. How long am I supposed to wait for someone to show up and accept the game?

That is up to you really. But if you already waited 5 minutes, that seems more than fair enough to me. If they want to play realtime, but don't show up in that amount of time, you should not feel bad for turning them down.

What happened now is that the other person accepted eventually, but then in turn, in the game itself, you didn't play, so the other player kicked you out (or maybe you get kicked automatically after a certain amount of time).

Also don't forget to check if the other player is online to begin with. I find it happens quite frequently that I join someone's game, but in the end that person turns out to have gone offline without quitting the game.
