New version (with Undo!)

Post by Een »

Dear players, a new version for Terra Mystica has been deployed today!
- You can now choose to always be prompted for conversions at the end of your turn. You'll find this player preference at the bottom in a blue box - and in the top right menu as usual (new games only)
- In the end of turn prompt conversions, we have added the possibility to undo your turn. So the much requested undo is now available (new games only)
- When selecting a power action, the game will now automatically propose you to sacrifice power if needed to make it easier and quicker (new and old games).
Enjoy!

Hello,
What I’m most interested in this new version is compliance with the rule in terms of conversion possibilities. I thank you for that.

I have never asked for a player to be able to restart his turn, but I am not opposed to it, as your action of the turn did not require any decision of an opponent, which would thus revealed his strategy.
In particular, restarting your turn should be prohibited if an opponent has refused to receive Power, accepted to receive Power when you play Cultists, or obtained Power by spending VP.

Do you know anything about expansions (fire and ice, merchants of the sea) being integrated into BGA?

I would love to see the factions and merchants made available. It has been very hard to play my copy with the pandemic going on.

I really would love playing with the new factions. It would be a revolution in this strategy game. The 6 new factions are totally different from the original ones.

Does this mean to activate undo you have to activate end of turn conversions as well? Also are there restrictions on when you can undo, as suggested by a poster above?

It indeed is kind of inconvenient and is the only reason why I have "always ask for conversions at the end of the turn". I care about conversions earlier on I think, but sometimes I just want to undo my move and without it it is sometimes impossible. I would prefer if Undo button would be available in more places, I once got really confused when I wanted to undo my turn in the middle of it and needed a few more clicks to get to it.

Isn't this undo feature problematic??
Example:
Im cultist. I build a TP near player A. He doesnt accept power but i want to move up in cult. Therefore, I undo my turn. Now I build my building next to a different player and check whether he will accept the power such that I get my +1 cult.

This might be a minor(?) detail but it looks abusable to undo a turn.

The undo feature is unfortunately open to abuse. Fortunately I don't see many players attempting to abuse this, and the one or two I have I just red thumb so I don't have to play with them again.

There's no great way around this, so I don't know what the solution is beyond hoping the player base doesn't abuse it. I personally would prefer the undo to completely disappear like it was before, but far too many enjoy it and it does have it's uses. It's been used/abused far less than I would have thought though and so widely is a positive thing.
