Re: Carnegie is now in Beta
I was able to build a project in a town occupied by the neutral player (Memphis) in this game:

The 9 neutral discs set out for the neutral player are all accounted for: 3 donations (Human Rights -> Industry, Human Rights -> Housing and Commerce, and Health -> South) and 6 cities (New York, Washington, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and New Orleans).traddles27 wrote: ↑13 February 2021, 23:41 I was able to build a project in a town occupied by the neutral player (Memphis) in this game:

The issue was probably that white discs, which are very frequently used as the neutral player color, are difficult to distinguish from the 5 cities that do not offer a transportation bonus (Memphis, Reno, Salt Lake City, Boise, and Portland). I've been tinkering with added shadow effects and contrast to help with this, but will continue to explore other options.

Re: Carnegie is now in Beta
Great game and very polished implementation!
One question I had, we turned our training game into a turn-based one as we ran out of time when playing it together. We've noticed that the turn-notifications from BGA are unusual and we don't get an indiciation of when the game is waiting on us. For example, when one player has chosen an action, the game was waiting on each individual player in turn to decide if they want income, but we didn't receive notifications that it was our turn, and the "games in progress" page shows it as the original player's turn. It's still doing the same as each player takes their action of the back of that player's choice.
Not sure if that's a bug or just how the framework works for turns such as this?

Re: Carnegie is now in Beta
Thanks!
I’ve noticed some unusual behavior when switching from real time to turn based, such as adding time limits even in training mode. I don’t remember any meta-site notification issues in the one game where I tried this, but there isn’t anything unusual in how players are made active. I think it’s a framework issue. The Event phase is a regular active player state, so you should get notice that the table is waiting for you just like with any other game.

Thanks for the info. I think it must be a framework issue as we've now moved onto a whole new turn and in Games On Progress it's still stuck on the player whose turn it was when we switched to turn-based.

Thank you for your answer, noticed in another game that I just started that the player white disks are different to those for no transportation bonus ones. Tried to go back to the specific game, to a moment before me occupying that city, unfortunately replay doesn't work.paramesis wrote: ↑14 February 2021, 01:58The 9 neutral discs set out for the neutral player are all accounted for: 3 donations (Human Rights -> Industry, Human Rights -> Housing and Commerce, and Health -> South) and 6 cities (New York, Washington, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and New Orleans).traddles27 wrote: ↑13 February 2021, 23:41 I was able to build a project in a town occupied by the neutral player (Memphis) in this game:

Also, thanks for developing this game, it's a very interesting one, I hope I'll stick to it, in spite of the fact I'm really bad at it.

Re: Carnegie is now in Beta
This is such an excellent implementation of this game - thank you!
Re: Carnegie is now in Beta
With what kind of monitors is everyone playing this game?
I think this is nearly impossible to play on a 24 " monitor. I don want to scroll around to see the board, to see the cards, to see the action board. Draftsaurus is the only game here on the BGA with the option to set very elegant the size of everything.
I think even a "fly-out" action board would be enough
I ll never play this game again but that s about the game itself but all the ideas written down could help to make it more playable for everyone else

Re: Carnegie is now in Beta
As a counterpoint - I've been playing on a 24" / 1080p monitor and I think it's excellent. Yes, you have to scroll, but I really don't find this much of a problem and I'd prefer this to trying to shrink content down any further where it would be illegible.
The Draftosaurus implementation is also excellent, but it has to convey a lot less information to the palyers.
