Which 12-hour time period is correct?

Post by MustardCowboy »

Hi everyone!

On the list of tournaments page, there is a tournament I want to register for that shows:

Starts 02/22/2021 at 02:00 (America/New York)
Turn-based (between 02:00 and 14:00)

But when I click on the tournament itself, I see the following:

Playing Hours: 08:00 - 20:00

Which is correct? I am on the east coast of USA, so the 08:00 - 20:00 would be great. But if the tournament goes from 02:00 to 14:00, that wouldn't work as well, since I'd be asleep for the first half of the tournament.

I just want to check I've found the correct tournament so I can answer correctly. https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=74803

Based on what I'm seeing as the times (starts 02/22/2021 at 17:30 (Australia/Adelaide)
Turns between 18:00 and 06:00

Playing hours 8-20

So the one you saw first on the tournament page would be correct for your local timezone .

Obviously both are wrong for me due to my odd timezone, but close enough to know.

The game can still be played during the other 12 hours of the day, the clock just doesn't count down during it.

Since 2:00 New York is 8:00 Paris/Berlin, I assume that 2:00 is your local hour, and 8:00 is the hour for their servers (BGA is based in France).

Thank you both for your quick replies! It helped me understand how the first page is the local time and the main Seasons page (yes, that was the correct tournament!) shows the server time. As a newbie, it is great having this forum resource! Thanks again!
