Dingo's Dreams: Do you know the way?

Dingo and his friends have gotten lost on Walkabout! Visit their dreams to lead them home!

Dingo's Dreams is a delightful and clever family game for 2-4 players. Each player competes to be the first to successfully guide his animal through the dream world.

Each player starts with a grid of 25 tiles, set up at random in a 5x5 dreamscape. Each player also starts with one extra tile, with a picture of their animal on it. The opposite side of all dreamscape tiles also has a picture of the animal. Each turn, a random card is drawn, telling players which tile they should flip. When a player flips a tile, it means their animal is traveling through a part of the dreamscape. Each player's goal is to guide their animal through the dreamscape by positioning him in a specified pattern (which is different each game). After a card is drawn, a player takes their extra animal and slides him into the dreamscape, shifting one row or column of tiles until a new, different tile emerges from the opposite side. The player will use this tile to shift another column or row on the next turn, and so on, until one player's dreamscape tiles match the goal. The player then shouts their animal's name-- "Dingo!", for example, to win the round.

Advanced rules add Hazard Tokens which increase the challenge substantially: to complete the required dream pattern, the player may not have his animal in any of the Hazard spaces marked on the dream card.

It's a light-hearted game that all can enjoy. A nice mix of a bingo, a puzzle, or a brain-teaser game.
This BoardGameArena adaptation also presents new dream patterns, supports up to 9 players, and offers the Kickstarter specials: 5th player animal art and Dream Companions.

We would like to send our warmest thanks to the designer, Alf Seegert, as well as the publisher, Red Raven Games.
Of course, nothing would have been possible without the help of trimall, our skilled developper who did an incredible job making this game really fun and easy to play. Congratulations!

Unfortunate that this game was considered fit for release while pretty much none of the translations work: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=34492

Hello,
Translations are provided by the community and are not mandatory for any games in any languages to make it available for release.
Please note that you can help translate the game right here for others :

Well, I (partially) did: https://boardgamearena.com/translation? ... d=85991746 :)

The problem is that they don't get applied in the game (not just a couple of them, but basically the entire log). I reported this as a bug a week or 2 ago (as linked), so I hope it will still get fixed after release.

I discussed this with the developer. The concatenation of an icon, to make the logs nicer, resulted in breaking the translations. Any time you improve something in software, you also take a risk. We'll see about fixing this.

I would like to add that in my opinion, this small and temporary issue doesn't change the fact that this is an excellent and beautiful implementation of the game, on which the developer has been working for over close to two years.

While reporting issues is necessary, I think it would have been more fair to balance it with a well deserved word of thanks. And I'll use this post as an opportunity to add that the developer also created a beautiful tutorial to learn the game, that you can access from the game page (and that was, when I looked at it, correctly translated :D )

Thanks for the reply.

Point taken, though I did not mean it as a negative comment towards the game itself (which does seem quite nice). I do think it is unfortunate that it gets placed into the spotlight with a very noticeable issue that will hold back a non-trivial amount of people from enjoying it, even though the issue was reported well in advance of this public release.

So yes, also a thanks for everyone involved, and hopefully everone will be able to play it in their chosen language soon. :)

The game is quite polished- a nice release of a neat game that I wouldn’t have learned of it wasn’t for BGA.

I was excited to see there was a tutorial, but disappointed to see it has a ways to go before it is usable.
1. On mobile, the text doesn’t even remotely line up to what it talks about most of the time. (Even on web, it is ambiguous much of the time— there should be an additional way to indicate the area being talked about, not just the point of the dialogue box.)
2. On mobile, it sometimes keeps snapping you to the top of the page while the CTA is off screen on the bottom, making it nearly impossible to continue.
3. It tells you to do things, but instead of actually being a situation where you control the action, but are limited to only being allowed to do a specific action, any click makes it advance. (This could be fixed even just with changing the copy to tell the user what is happening if the idea is just to be something you watch instead of interact with.)

Those are limitations of the tutorial functionality in general in the framework. The tutorial functionality is a beta from late 2019 (see for more information viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14280). Then 2020 happened. We intend to get back to this feature and improve it when possible.
