The hunt for Mr. Flanders

Post by Waddington »

That recurrent exhibition of the Simpsons (particularly, Ned Flanders) in each new announcement, is becoming more intriguing in each news. I see people making comments that it deviates the attention to the game itself, but... Seems there's more than simply adding a funny character there.
There's definitely simething between the line to read there...

Seems a treasure hunt from BGA, but I cannot find any tips on where to start...

Should we start the hunt for an Easter Egg at BGA? Spoilers are welcome in this topic!

Let's "crack the code"!

I don't think it means anything, it's just that whoever writes these news posts clearly enjoys pop culture references. The front page top story right now is literally the word "Abyss:" followed by two full lines of a song from a Disney film.

There might be a reason behind it. Why specifficaly Mr. Flanders?
Why some in evidence, others a bit hidden with the image?

Abyss: Flanders is a fish

Quetzal: Flanders on a boat

1871: CITY OF THE BIG SHOULDERS: Flanders is an entrepeneur or investor

Res Arcada: Flanders under the armpit of a sourcerer?

UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER: The guy's face is mixed with Spain?

Just Deserts: a FLANders? really? LOL!

Alhambra: There he is, in the bottom left, looking at you!

Carcassonne H&G: he is miming a mammoth!

There were some games without his appearance, but St. Petersburg, there he is. First appearance.

Yep. Adding to the list:

Draftosaurus: Flanders is back. But he's not allowed to cross with a T-Rex!

Dingo's dreams: Mr. Flanders' dog making its debut

Blue Skies: We present you Captain Ned Flanders

Abyss: Flanders is a fish

Quetzal: Flanders on a boat

1871: CITY OF THE BIG SHOULDERS: Flanders is an entrepeneur or investor

The city of Bruges is in the region of Flanders, Hans Im Gluck published the original, Queen Games is publishing a re-implementation as Hamburg, and both these companies have given rights for games of theirs to be implemented for BGA. Maybe I'm overthinking...
