Stone Age is broken

Post by PedroAlvarez »

Basically every game has one person stop feeding their people and they always win, and you cannot stop it. People will say it's a strategy, but it fundamentally breaks the game. Please change the feeding penalty to be higher to counteract.

I have seen this tactics just a few times, and you can win against them having a good strategy, 'cause -10 VP is quite a lot. Especially if you play 3-4 players, they would not be able to score 10+ VP/turn easily.

Another advice: try to use the same tactics by your own, and you'll see how to counteract on your own example.

Step 1: Read the Stone Age forums on "Starvation Strategy".
Step 2: Read the BGG forums or do a Google search on how to counter Stone Age's starvation strategy.
Step 3: Realize that this is an official rule, and that BGA cannot make a change to it and keep the licensing agreement they have with the owner of the digital rights.

This is false. See the posts above.

Master level players would agree -10 points is a bit too harsh.. I think equilibrium against master level game is -9 per round of nonfeed.

I consistently crush starvation strategy, I replied here as well.

I don't think it's broken, but the 10 point penalty for failing to feed your people seems a bit off.

It would be logical to simply lose however many people you are unable to feed. If you cannot hunt (hunting grounds), grow it (agricultural level), or buy it (civilization cards or using resources at the end of the turn), then the player loses their excess people. It would also be a stronger disincentive for a player to starve their people; the loss of unfed people would affect their production and thus, acquisition of victory points, in subsequent turns.

You guys can say it's not a broken game all you want. Since I switched to this BS strategy I'm 10-0. I'm not a 10 and 0 player. This was with people actively trying to stop it. Stone Ages is unplayable unless I play with friends who agree it's bs and to play normally. I'm moving onto other games and once people realize that strategy is winning all the time will as well.

Really? When did this 10-game winning streak occur?
