Do you restrict your tournaments to high karmas? It could filter some of these players, if they are expelled a lot and get red thumbs, they will have trouble to be above 85.

These type of players' reputation is like a yo-yo.

As a person who has been up to about 230 games at the same time:

I could barely keep up with all the tables, so I have toned down my amount of tables.
I had some issues outside of this site in the last couple of weeks, which got me into trouble on some tournament games.

to answer your questions:

1. I've not seen more than 367 I think
2. Depends on your bases:
2.a: on the whole website, the most amount of people will be inactive for a long time
2.b: on the basis of the people who log in every month might be a different question
+ It's harder to find people who do not play a lot of turn-based games compared to people who play 300+ turn-based games (for the easy reason that they play on more tables, so they are easier to find)

3: I've seen about 20% of my tournament games with people who take a long time, this is mostly concentrated on the games where you have multiple people in one game (if the game is you against 1 other person, most of the time they will respond, but games with about 5 people, there will sometimes be someone who takes longer)

+ Also, most of the time you subscribe to a tournament the tournament is a few days/weeks away, if something happens in between in your real life, unsubscribing from BGA tournaments might not be the first thing on your list

4: I've not really seen this at all, but I've been in about 10 tournaments so far.

EDIT: Added more insight on my '+' after 2b, might have not been necessary, but now it should be clearer

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

I am referring to players who regularly join a 1 day Turn-Based tournament and then deliberately do not play.

Furthermore, a tournament creator should be able to Expel any player who is a nuisance.
I agree with this a lot

Yes, thank you Pierre_Bezemer, your experiences being involved with 200+ turn based games is precisely what I'd expected, & it's good to have your views on this topic.

I agree that the tournament creator should be able to expel players if they just don't play. I have had this happen in a tournament lately myself, where in the last 2 games, some people just didn't play at all. Even when they were at -7 days, the game kept on going. In cases where it's clear they have no intention to finish, there should be a solution for that.

On the other hand, I hate the fact that some people kick other players in a tournament game when they barely run out of time, while it's clear those player still intend to play, but the game just doesn't go too well with the time zones of the different players. So that shouldn't be possible. But that's another topic already running on this forum, right?

On topic, I have been as high as 130 turn-based games at one time. It's doable, but if there's also some short timed games between those, especially tournament games, then it is hard to keep up. It surely isn't about quality anymore at that time, only quantity.

Wow! T72on1 , How many hours a day, roughly do you think you had to dedicate to keep up?
I imagine it would be over multiple sessions most days?

& I agree completely with " intent to play " being obvious, and should be given the ability to claw back some time by stopping or slowing loss rate.
in other words, just keeping out of the red if they return regular enough.
As I'm in Australia, I'm often out of sync with both the US & EU, & I've experienced the red clock sometimes with leniency but more often not.
& don't think it's off topic, I think it should be part of this discussion, because it is all about intent!

Thank you T72on1 for your insights

I have been kicked once from a tournament game while I was somewhere between 1h and 5h over time.
There was another player on -35h, but (s)he was done with her/his turn at that point, (s)he got points for that game while I didn't and the next game of the tournament will only start in about 3 to 4 days from now, I got expelled 4 or 5 days ago.

I could imagine expelling me jus before the end, since I did draw the game out by going over time, but if there were many days of play left there is no reason to expell in my opinion, unless the player doesn't even play at all
