Problems with replay function

Post by RobertBr »

Before putting a bug report in I'm making a general inquiry to see if others have noticed this. I've tried to look at a few games via the replay function and I am finding either that the game log is entirely missing or that it begins at some arbitrary point hundreds of thousands of moves in - which means replay cannot actually replay the game. Anyone else?

That's a known issue. The game log gets truncated after 1000 entries or something like that. Failure to do so led to the game crashing.

I do have issues replaying even what the last moves were when I rejoin a game. Typically it's not a problem because of the amount of interactions with combats, but sometimes I do find that i've missed something.

Thank you, that would explain it as previously I had only be replaying relatively short games that I was using for solo exercises. Its a pity since almost all scenarios of reasonable length are likely to run to over a thousand moves.

Okay, now as I think about this I am confused. If the game log is being truncated to stop it crashing (which destroys the replay function) why is it not be sharply truncated to avoid the long tedious loading (I literally open independent windows for each game because cycling round the games I'm playing by clicking next table would be impractical)? There is no purpose to recording the last 1000 moves unless you record all the moves. You could just record the last dozen?

BGA framework is designed for board games.
Think about logs for chess, card games, 7 wonders... (Through the Ages has a bigger log, The Crew has some log problems too).
You have only dozen or hundreds of entries in log, not thousands like USE.

During ALPHA/BETA phase, I haven't truncate logs and games took several minutes to load all logs, really bad.
It will be cool if I can not truncate them but limit loaded ones, I can't do that.
I have no direct control on that.

If you want to up pressure, you can create (and vote massively) a bug report on BGA interface (not USE).

Created one...

by the looks of things it would take more than a hundred upvotes to even get it noticed.
