Not leading with trump until it's broken

Post by shaunism »

I love the new updates to Oh Hell - thank you!

One important (IMHO) option is missing from the Oh Hell I know from growing up: like in Hearts, you shouldn't be able to lead with trump until trump has been broken. It changes your strategy (and what you bid) when you cannot lead until broken. It’d be great to see that as an option in further development.

Cheers,
Shaun

I agree! That would be my suggestion as well! I love this game but never were we allowed to lead with trump until it's been played. It would make the game much more challenging.. And I believe that is the original rule for the game as well.. Please change..

Thank you,
Lisa

Yes, it would be great to be able to switch between different sets of house rules and options. That way we can get even more fun out of this great game!

Oh yes. I have been playing oh hell for years and that is one of the most important rules I learned. Never lead with trump. Thanks for tackling this dilemma. :D

This would be a great option to add! How I've always played in real life. If there is an option to turn the hook off, which defeats the purpose of this game, we should be able to make this an option too.

This seems reasonable as an option. I wouldn't play it personally because there can be strategic benefits to an early trump lead, but I know many people like to prohibit it.
