"Only in training mode"

Post by AlbionLoveDen »

Hi - I'm trying to set up a game, and changing it from Training Mode to Normal Mode and I get an error message stating "Only training mode". Anything I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like you are trying to start a solo game without being in training mode (or perhaps start a Poland 39 with an opponent, which is again only for solo training)? Those are my immediate thoughts.

I did play a solo game once, but then went back to start another game with opposition when I received the error message.

Did you have your solo game set to 1 player on the player count? That would cause the error message when you switched.

Yes, but then going back into it to set it to between 2 and 2 players, it still gives me the error message

Apologies, this may just be my lack of familiarity with the BGA platform. I've never played a solo training game on BGA before, and it doesn't seem very intuitive as to how to change it back to a "normal" game with 2 or more platers

So, if you are using Simple and Manual as your lobby interface you should have a screen with various options and yourself showing as a player. Above that is a line that says from X to X players. Beside each number are + and - buttons. Use those to set the values from 2 to 2 players. You should then be able to use the drop downs on the left to return to normal mode and set a time limit. Remember you will be able to 'open' the game to other players but it will not start until other players have joined and if you try to start it then you well get an error message.

Sorry if that is unclear, the lobby used to be much easier to navigate because there was only one way to access it, with all of the customisation in the last two years its very hard to tell if you are seeing the same thing I am.

Thanks for your help. I was doing all you noted, but still getting the error. As it turned out, I was setting up the Scandinavian scenario which gave the error. Others were fine.
