Load of logs take a long time

Post by Johan IV »

In the long campaign loading logs take a long time.
Would it be possible to create an option to decide how many months back the player wants loaded?

Thanks for your efforts.

My understanding is that the issue is in large part beyond the remit of an individual game developer and the solution needs to be enacted at a site wide level - namely that the site is not designed for games of this scale. There is an open suggestion but unless it is upvoted I cannot imagine the site taking steps... https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=35939

BGA team is currently udpating framework to solve this problem.
Update was deployed on studio (development environment) a week ago.
This update should be deployed tomorrow on production environment.

So, I wait one or two days to see if problem is solved (but new ones could come)
If not, I will use old fix: delete old logs (but game replay will be impossible).

How do you do that?

Players can't do that.

It seems that BGA team has deployed their update.
Log loading is now faster.
(I think they have limited log loaded, so I do not need to delete them anymore).

Agreed, it looks much faster now. Maybe we can get full game replays now!

In theory yes but only for game started no more than 7-10 days ago.
Logs was cleared for older ones.

It is an incredibly useful feature if it is available. If you are able to make it work that would be amazing, and I don't think it matters that older games will not have the logs - as long as games going forward do.

I'm curious, why this functionality interests you so much?
Perhaps I can do something with load/save game feature too.
Tell me.
