Chinese checkers is waiting for your reviews

Hi everyone.

I'm pleased to announce that Chinese checkers (also called Sternhalma) is now available for alpha testing.
This is a classic abstract game, more than 100 years old, with really simple rules and deep strategy.

If you are already a member of the reviewer group, you should see it here :

Otherwise, just tell me and I'll send you an invite.

As with all alpha game, it may contain bugs. If you see one or if you have any suggestion, please report them in the bug tracker :

https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=38801

Given racist origins (the use of marketing Orientalism with cringe worthy imagery in the early 20th century) of the name "Chinese Checkers" I'd like to suggest that we use the original German name for this game "Stern-Halma". This is especially applicable given the increase in anti-Asian hate crimes worldwide, and the growing awareness of the effects that "branding" can have on culture (eg: Washington's Football team, Edmonton's Football team).

I'm not saying that renaming a boardgame on a website is going to fix the world. People are still going to call it by the CC name, but I think it would be respectful, not only of Chinese culture, but of the German origins of the game, to have it labeled as such.

Hi,
Not sure if im in the right place but could the developer make it the proper way to play chinese marbles?
Meaning you can jump more than 1 space equally between marbles.
Example, marble(1) can jump over if there are 3 equal spaces between that marble(0). 1...0...1
As long as the spaces between are equal, you can jump.

Please DM me for further explaination, if needed🙈 I hope the developer will make the changes as it is more fun!😊

Not really the place but you can keep jumping over marbles until there is no space. So this already exist…

Agreed. I was surprised to see the game released with the problematic name. This is not what this game is really called, it's an offensive US marketing thing, and the name should be changed, for accuracy and sensitivity.

Many thanks for this addition to BGA.

I'd like to add my voice to the requests from sombradelviento and niteowllass for symmetric jumps rather than just adjacent ones. See the definition of Fast Paced or Super Chinese Checkers on the wikipedia page. Still just jumping one piece though.

To be specific: A jump moves your piece over a single other piece and lands on the opposite side, following the lines on the board. The distance from the start point to the jumped piece is the same as the distance from the jumped piece to the landing point. The landing point and all spaces jumped over have to be empty, except the one containing the single piece being jumped.

(All other rules remain, such as being able to chain jumps, not being allowed to end a turn in someone else's triangle, no going off the board, can't do the step move plus a jump etc)
