Another bug with a sea landing and the opponent's unwillingness

Post by LeonardoAngelo »

Another bug with a sea landing and the opponent's unwillingness to press the surrender button.

Once again, in this terribly buggy game, the impossibility of landing is evident.
in addition, it is not possible to take back the surprise landing markers. which in short scripts means imminent loss. Although you're doing everything right.
Sometimes the opponents are honest, but what if not?
I'm not ready to close the game with a draw. I am writing to my opponent, describing the situation, but in fact he lost. No reaction, ignore.
The question is where you can write so that he will be defended by a machine gun.
bug fix - I no longer write. Nobody cares about fixing this buggy game.

A) Lunalol has been doing a great job improving and fixing this game. I am very glad for his expertise and assistance.

B) Please link the bug report as that is where bugs like this should go.

C) If you are waiting on your opponent, then why not just let time run out and skip their turns?

There are a few bugs with the amphibious landings but they mostly relate to certain hexes not being allowed (or being allowed when they shouldn't) and are in obscure places (several around the Baltic have now been fixed). Can you describe the bug you encountered because it is statistically more likely you have made a mistake. The allies spent months planning their landings and the game (sort of) reflects that, you need to get your spots and your sequencing right and that requires practice runs solo and careful planning.

2) I see no reason to repeat this over and over again. I wrote about this bug twice. So what?
even here
https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=6514222
Nothing.

3) I cannot do this, since I entered the training game, it does not cut off moves.
In this case, my move. But I can't walk, because of a bug with landing in the Baltic Sea.
In general, I think the system is unfair.
In another game. You cannot finish the game, even when the USSR is destroyed in 1942. Allegedly, you have not completed 50% of the game. I destroyed the USSR. what happened? They gave me only half of the country, and did not defend the victory. Only Britain remained on the map, I did not know what to do, and my opponent applied to close the game due to mutual passes. And I didn't even get any rating points. All due to the fact that there are some artificial restrictions on the surrender of the enemy.

Please don't think of the players as idiots.
I am not a native speaker. This game does not have complete rules in my language. I myself participated in the translation of this game as best I could.
do you think the problem with disembarkation appears for the first time? This is the eighth or ninth problem.
I figured out a number of mistakes, it was really my fault. But most of it is the fault of poor integration of the rules.
no need to give an example of how the Allies carefully plan a landing.
This is a board game. In a real board game, you can always take the marker back and go. this is normal. especially if a beginner is playing.
And here is this pathos. Please stop. Who came up with the prohibition on the return of the marker was wrong.

Sounds very frustrating. I’m not able to see the bug you’re mentioning in the group that you linked to. Do you have a link to the bug report? The best way I have found to resolve problems is by logging a bug in the BGA system.

The BGA website is very unforgiving with undoing moves because it is designed for competitive play. Fortunately, Lunalol has been able to work in some Undo functionality within BGA’s restrictive system.

As for your game in question, since it’s just a Training game, then you can call it a win and abandon the game, right?

This increases the suspicion that you are blaming the implementation for your own errors. Collapsing the USSR is not a victory condition. To win Germany must survive until the end of the game. If the USSR has collapsed you have another 24 to 48 moves to play and you may well still lose - consult the rules on the Moscow Treaty.
This is a very complex game by the standards of BGA. I would recommend against attempting it unless you have prior experience of this type of game or are a native speaker and can follow the rules. If you cannot do those things you should play with an opponent who has played before who can explain the parts you do not understand. Ask on this forum and I a sure someone will volunteer to walk you through key scenarios - or if your listening comprehension is better than your reading comprehension you could use the walk through videos I prepared of what I think are the key training scenarios (https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/283783/lessons-front). Someone also did similar videos in French, perhaps someone else has a link to those?

I am a native speaker and well above average in my ability to assimilate rules and I think about half to two-thirds of what I initially thought were bugs turned out to be my not understanding the rule.

Sure. As I said, I have written twice about bugs in the bug topics. But what about the dialogue that Javam brought from the link?

Victory is victory. Why should I admit my defeat if I won? what's the difference between a training game or not?
If the USSR has collapsed you have another 24 to 48 moves to play and you may well still lose - consult the rules on the Moscow Treaty.
//// and you can still lose - read the rules of the Moscow Treaty.
I read these rules, I lost not for this reason.
Look on the map, there are no more opponents and neutrals left except for Britain and the defeated USSR. Not Greece, Not Sweden, not even Iraq.
I lost because I didn't know where to go, and my opponent couldn't give up. And so we ended the game by skipping moves for both sides.
question. why the player for the USSR and he for Britain could not surrender? The system simply wouldn't let him do it?
I prefer give no answer to this sort of thread.
This is just wonderful.
write a forum, Lunalol helps everyone, he corrected a lot of mistakes. hahaha
thank you all for trying, goodbye.

This may be of benefit for others but LeonardoAngeolo just does not understand the game, how to play, or the BGA interface - this is not a bug. If Germany achieves a total lock and collapse of the USSR the game is (by design) not over. Even if the UK were conquered it is still not over. In 1942 the UK will still be quite weak and there will be very little the UK can do immediately but by 43 the UK and USA will be liberating Scandinavia or Africa, and then beginning to work their way back on to the continent. The USSR will reactivate at the end of 43 and then the Germans will be in the defensive endgame.

If an opponent believes that the position is truly hopeless (and if you have not played out a lock position you have no basis to make that call) then they can use the 'concede' option under the three bar menu button on the top right - which is a standard part of the BGA interface not a feature specific to USE. There is no obligation on an opponent to do this because you falsely 'believe' you have won as LeonardoAngeolo does.

If the opposing player wrote in the chat that he surrenders, then I won. But he wrote that the change buttons you are talking about do not work for him. The system simply prevents the player from surrendering, since 50% of the game has not been played. What it is? Why is this?

the game is already very long, my opponent and I played for 5 months. And for what? For the sake of what if, admitting defeat, he could not surrender? This is ridiculous considering the name of the game - unrestrained surrender.
