Option to not skip players on tournaments.

Post by Hardin2000 »

Hello.

I created some tournaments on this season and I see many people skipping a player in a 4 or 5 players table, just because that player is out of time.
IMO i think it It's not fun at all with people playing in different timezones to skip a player, before the game maximum duration.

This should be an option on tournament creation: to be or not be able to skip players by time. Or at least to only skip if all positive time players agree.

The other thing is: When a game finish by reach maximum duration. It Is not fair decide the game winner by time.
The points for positive time players should be split equally between them. Because none of all excedeed the time limit, so all played by the rules.

Just for negative time players, the points could have a order. So let's say the game have 0 points for the 5th and last player, 2 points for 4th player. Then the player with most negative time should have 0 points and the 2nd player with most negative time should have 2 points.

Have a nice day

I agree with both these points! All players with positive clocks should be tied. Punishing worst offenders (if multiple go over) also makes sense.

This has come up a lot since the tournaments began to allow multiplayers, there is a suggestion which you can upvote https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=35289

Totally agree with the sentiments of the OP. Kind of new to BGA, and just started my first tournament (multi-player Puerto Rico) with a strict time limit. So far, 16 games have been concluded, all of which failed to reach the finish line; 14 were "timed out" and the other two were decided by a forfeit leaving the other three players as shared victors.

Tournaments here should be about finding out who is the best player, not who lives in the "right" time zone or who is able to manipulate the system to his/her advantage.
