I discovered that for some reason, if i open a chat box with... anyone... I have this pinned message in the PM chat box ("Unsollicited messages may lead to be blocked and affect your reputation.")

Is this happening to anyone else?

And does anyone know what it means?

It seems... weird.

For instance, it makes me think that if i respond to a player asking me something, or if i want to text a friend-ish BGA player to send game links or to ask about life or whatever... I might be blocked or banned or whatever. So it kind of blocks any possibility of texting via PM.

And I am not sure why this would happen... Makes 0 sense to me, to get this pinned warning text, and I am curious about the reason(s) behind it.

I mean, I see no obviuous reasons.

There are a few players whose PM chats won't show me the warning.

I think my questions are pretty reasonable, and something like this should be explained and made known for the other part (me or the entire BGA community), before being implemented.

I first thought it was part of that "under 18 program" but i see this warning appear even with people who have... "100 years old" on their profiles.

I think it is for everyone, although I only see it in messages with people I have not messaged before (maybe last time messaged is a factor?)

We can only guess as to the reason, but my guess would be due to the types of unsolicited messages some people get (for example inappropriate messages, harassment, negative behaviour, etc.). It might be to encourage people to think twice about the types of messages they send or to warn them of what might happen. Maybe they think that some people assume the private messages are unreportable/private even from staff.

Perhaps.

But if a player gets a harassing message, (s)he can red thumb that player and/or report her/him, like it was always possible. So no problem, in my opinion.

The problem is: if a player lagged in a game because of the "starting game page" bug, I used to PM the player (in "7 Wonders" for instance), with the link of the started game page (in order for the player to click) or with "you're in a game, please refresh page and play".

Now i cannot do that, because the PM would be unsolicited.

Or you just ignore the message and keep going with fair use. As long as you‘re not spamming lots of ppl, I dont think you‘ll get issues.
