What is the difference between Casual and Competitor?

I do not find the term Competitor anywhere in the rules, the how-to or by a quick search on BGG.

In competitor mode, game assists are disabled :

- No visual difference between cards you can buy and cards you can reserve
- No "show remaining costs" option
- No auto-spend gold option : When you own gold you control whether to spend it or keep it.

In my opinion, the points you have listed correspond only to personal preferences that have only a negligible impact on the performance of each one.
So I find no justification for this table option, which is simply to try to impose one’s personal preferences on others.

The "difference between cards you can buy and cards you can reserve" should be an option of preferences like the other 2 points. The "Casual/Concurrent" table option has no purpose.

It seems the publisher disagrees and considers that, especially under time pressure, the capacity to quickly do the mental math to spot which cards you can afford and which you can't (and how many resources you still need) is a significant part of the gameplay of Splendor.

If I am playing a casual game, is it intentional that when I click the option to turn off "auto pay even when owning gold" it always reverts back when I come back to take my turn?
