Turn Based Game Turn Order Logic

Post by RoboZoom »

Hi,

I'm an avid player and long term member of BGA, well pre-dating the introduction of turn based games. This introduction has been fantastic, as well as the introduction of arena mode and arena mode seasons. Together, they allow me to play more complex or rarely played games piecemeal when I don't have the hours to devote to them.

One thing that I believe really needs improvement is the underlying logic for which games you are allowed to play. As I understand it, the logic in real life works such that the game you played least recently (in arena mode) of a given type needs to be played first. If I have 5 games of stone age in arena mode, 3 are available, then I'm compelled to play the one that I played least recently regardless of time remaining.

This creates tension in two significant areas. First, if I just have a limited amount of time remaining, and some games have different time constraints (for some reason, not all arena mode games have the same timers), I cannot play the game with the lowest clock left. In fact, it's super annoying that when I click "play" at the top of the screen, it takes me to the game with the lowest clock, and then I'm told that I need to play another game first. There is warring logic for which game I should play next.

Second, sometimes I just want to focus on a single game to finish, because the player is available. But I get vectored away from that game because another game needs my input.

I know these rules are meant to stop cheating, but I think it's hurting user experience more than helping the quality of the competition.
