Abandon All Artichokes now available in Alpha

Hi!

Abandon All Artichokes, Emma Larkins' deck destruction game with vegetables, is now available in Alpha!

It is a quick and fun game where you try getting rid of the artichokes in your deck.

A turn is simple: add a card to your deck (harvest it from the garden row), then play any or all cards in your hand, and end your turn. If you redraw and have no artichokes in hand, you win.

A big thank you to Gamewright for licensing the implementation!

A bumper-crop of prickly produce has overtaken your patch, and there's only one choice: abandon all artichokes! Prune your deck by harvesting fresh vegetables, each with a special power that lets you swap, discard, or compost cards. You need luck, strategy, and a green thumb to grow a winning hand!

Very good implementation! I would recommend a countdown timer on the End Turn button when a player only has artichokes left (2-3 seconds max). Players might assume their turn is over as they have no actions left at that point.

Try playing with the 'automatic turn end' option turned on, then a player's turn will automatically end when only artichokes are left in their hand.

I find it confusing for new players, that's why it's off by default.

Why can't I start a game of this? I am a reviewer, I joined the group, I added as a favorite, but the create button doesn't appear.

Hi again!

I've released an update to Abandon All Artichokes last night. The changes to the previous version are:

- Add Rhubarb promo card
- Add user-requested option to play with public artichoke counts
- Show artichokes at left of hand, so other vegetables are on top.
This way, at least one other vegetable is fully visible (if any)
- Reduce hand card overlap to improve card visibility
- Use icons instead of text in player panels
- Give compost a background color
- Give display area a background color
- Improve some log messages
- Translation fix; reduce strings to translate
- Improve animations for reshuffles and hand redraw

Due to a very quick bug report (thanks, bobondi!) I've quickly released an update that fixed a bug in the garden row refresh.

(But can I express a personal preference for words over icons for deck/hand/discard but I'm probably in a minority!)
