Can someone explain how this elo calculation works?

I attached a screenshot. It seems like I should go up 8 + 6 + 3, or ~17. Instead I only get 12 points. Why is this?

This has been asked plenty of times, and still there is no official explanation anywhere. Various bug tickets have also been made.

Nevertheless, in multiplayer games, the BGA Elo is multiplied by a number, which varies based on number of participants and also between different games. If you have played less than 20 games, this is not done, though.

So there you got the multiplicateur, apprently 4 players is 2/3, and 7 players is 1/3.


Furthermore, if you are in your first few games, you got onother multiplicator of x2/x3.

the multiplier numerator is the lesser of "Number of Players" and "Recommended number of players"
The denominator is (2 x ("Number of Players" - 1))

If you've played less than 20 games this multiplier still applies, but for some reason shows up as a K factor adjustment (whereas once the K factor is 20 for 21+ games, the multiplier does not show up as part of the K-factor).

So for a 4 player game where the recommended number of players is 4 or greater your multiplier is 4/6, reducing to 2/3

For a 7 player game with recommended number of 7 or greater it would be 7/12, for the game you posted the recommended player count must be 4 which gives 4/12 or 1/3
