Mahjong in Alpha

Post by Ralchimist »

Hi everyone!

The traditionnal four-player Mahjong is now available for alpha testing!
You can access the reviewer interface from https://boardgamearena.com/reviewer?game=mahjong
The group is openned so please invite friends to join us!

It exists so many differents rules, I tried to choose a simpliest but complete one, I hope you'll enjoy it!
I also implement a three-player version, with a dead player.

As usual, please use the suggestions/bug report system for any report, available at https://boardgamearena.com/bugs?game=1348

Thanks for testing and have fun playing !

May I ask what rules did you choose to implement? I would very much recommend Zung Jung rules because they're easy, intuitive and still strategic enough for more serious gamers too. I'm not a reviewer btw.

I don't yet meet the criteria for Alpha, but if there is a way around that constraint, I would very much like to help test. I've been looking for a good non-spammy place to play MJ with my family now that C19 is preventing us from playing in person.

I like that there is now a version of mahjong on BGA. I play this game with my family years ago almost every Sunday. Now my sister lives in South Korea and I live away from my parents, so it would be difficult to play a game. But with this version we can play it remotely. Unfortunately I am the only alpha tester in the family, so we have to wait to the Beta. But I will test the alpha, so it can go to Beta.

You can invite other players into the Mahjong Players group so that you can play with your family.

This is amazing news :)
I hope you will also implement the riichi Mahjong rules
I often play it against my friends using someone's Github code, however I would like to play against others too :)

If you need more reviewers let me know, then I'll put down a request at BGA to make me a reviewer
I'm eager to learn other rules sets as well

Any update on this?

It would be amazing since there doesn't seem to be any good alternatives to play mahjong.

Well, I guess now we'll have a way to play turn-based mahjong with that... Most riichi mahjong games I know are real time. I might want to help test. Are there going to be enough available players the time I'm online though... Also, learning other rules might be good.

Just started learning Mahjong(American), so thought I would give this a try. Some of the hands are confusing me, such as all Kongs. Rules say you need 4 kongs, how do you get 4 kongs with only 14 tiles?
