What causes someone to be matched with the same player so many times? Can there be some way to limit this? It is not fun being forced to play the same person in multiple games at the same time

maybe it's because it's the only avaible waiting person waiting in Arena and you wait too and match, becasue of only one possibility and all settings are in the possibilities that you accept.

I am specifically recommending "Advanced variant: yes" to be a default in the next season for "Welcome To".

I agree that this would be a good discussion to have (even though I would vote for sticking with the base game ^_^ )

Is there any chance the Arena rules would change in this case, if the community wanted it?

if votes are very important with a huge majority, you can contact the dev of this game or BGA team to request an changement. They can accept or not.

I have some concerns about the reboot of leagues each Seasons
I would prefer to loose only 1 division which Will make sense to deal with player stoping to play and offers a challenge.
Loosing everything you build during weeks to level up is more to punish regular players or discouraging them to try to reach the top unless they invest their lifes into a game to constantly grinding low levels to reach the division correponding to their true level.

It's a shame I think it's a very good concept at the basis and well implemented but I have suffer enough to continue to invest my time for a big slap at the enfd of a season

It is a progressive system, and even if they won't say it outright, the goal of arena is to force people to play more, not to determine who is strongest or to get matches between equally skilled players.

for me and in other system like video games, Arena means being able to reach a high rank on a short period meaning inside the set of active players which is in theory more easy than in an all time ranking system.
And without enforce anything it should be enough to generate lot of games.
It's why in some video games they try to make you reach your level quickly, from that point you will play a lot to try to reach a better place or even the top.

In the current system most of my games are just to going back to my previous level and then I have just few game to try to improve it.
One of the thing also that slow my ascending is that if I miss 1 pt to change division and I won a game which can give me 3 pts, I will start in the upper division with 0 pts instead of 2.

I think a ranking system don't need to slow people because by definition only 1 person will reach the top so all the other will continue to play to become the king, and you will be more motivate to retry the next season if you dont have to restart from scratch and have again a slow ascending.

I hope they will do a change in the direction in a near future.

I have an arena game where the player is 6 days over their time limit, and multiple players have tried to expel this player, but it's not working. Whilst I know what the correct bug report process is, that doesn't help with the game in question, which impacts peoples arena standings. Is there a way of getting that looked at, given it's not exactly going to get much visibility in the bugs and suggestions process...

What's happening with Opponents' level preferences in Arena?

For some reason, for the last couple of days I get these settings for all games:

I'm okay playing with
My level
I prefer not to play with
Near my level (+/- 1)
I'm reluctant to play with
Around my level (+/- 2)
I never want to play with
Far from my level

Even if I click reset to default, it appears to get with the same settings (in spite of the fact it shows I'm ok to play with anyone) and when I re-enter the game it goes back to the aforementioned settings.

And this is really annoying for the game of 99 (trick-taking), where there's very few people playing, only 5 of us are in Elite, the next level is Silver, still if I entered Arena, at my table would show Gold and above.
