Why do some days on the calendar have red circles around them? I've opened the chest everyday and played the game each day.

Every day should be circled, assuming you opened the chest on time.
But watch out, it needs to be in the right time zone: UTC + 2 (I think that one of the devs said something alike somewhere, though can‘t find it anymore).

I too have clicked every day on the calendar, but don't have a streak or a circle on 4 July?

That's annoying, they need a countdown timer so people know. I clicked it in the middle of the day, it should have been fine for most time zones.

I guess if we miss a day it's not possible to get back on the streak and will forever miss out on any bonuses?

There isnt more supposed to happen, just above the part that you made a screenshot from, you see which new game is released today.

Yes, it is. There are several bonuses, for several streak levels!

Was there an announcement? (I mean, besides what is written in the Pandemic announcement). I just kinda noticed the chest now, so I guess I lost the chance to rack all 62 days.

100% agree, it seems the site concentrate on squeezing Flanders in their posts more than ensuring members receive updates, it didn't even show in my messenger notifications.
