Respect and being appropriate

Post by SailorJup_824 »

I don't understand how people expect "fairness" and good player experience. People expect you to say good game or to say it back. Everyone condemns you for not saying good game or condemns you for being a poor sport for losing but most people who lose don't ever say good game. People aren't saying good game to me when I win them and beat them bad. If it's a close game then yes it's a good game. It's not a good game every game you play. It's mostly adults who play this site so yes these games are fun but this is still a competition where someone wins and loses. There will always be a winner and a loser.

if you've won hands down, be so kind as to send a flower hurricane. if it was a close match, you might perform an oak evolution. and if you've been beaten badly or humiliated by a ggez or both, resurrect queen metaria and let your opponent suffer from the terrors of the dark kingdom or use your jupiter kick several times. ;)

We all play games to pass the time, so when a game comes to an end and you can reflect on it and think it was a very interesting game, then I certainly would agree on it being a good game. But games that come to an end where the gameplay was not what it was supposed to be, then I don't find it a good game, even if I won.

For example the games I like playing:
[*]Martian Dice: the rolls aren't balanced, one player rolls a gazillion tanks never even standing a chance, the other has lucky throws. Same for Can't Stopwhere the dice decide your faith.
[*]Love Letter 5+ players: some players not following basic principles, not going after those who have already scored, going after players that played a Constable, not thinking logically.
[*]Fluxx: win after only a couple of turns
[*]BANG!(Alpha): being elliminated quickly without a chance to play properly and demonstrate your allegiance, sucks even more if you're a sole renegade, or a Deputy being shot by the Sheriff.

For such encounters I cannot name it a good game.
