Fast Games

Post by Pipcelot »

A little help would be appreciated...
I set my time for fast game, but all that happens is that my opponents frequently run out of time and continue their regular speed.
I don't want to be rude and click the 'Skip the player out of time' button.
Is there perhaps a feature where it automatically skips or is friendly timed game just an illusion?

:?:

Thank you for any reply

Is it a realtime game?

You could repeat it in chat that the time is set to fast.

Agreed. No need to kick them out after the first time they cross the time limit. But the game speed you set is there for a reason. So it is not rude of you to kick someone if they keep running out of time. It is rude of them not respecting the limit over and over.

Hi Pipcelot,
I agree with voriki.

1) Since game settings are not always checked when joining a game, clarifing it before starting it's a good way to solve this issue.

I think it's common for players not to fully read the settings since waiting some time to do so may bring the host to kick you out (so rude).

2) After having clarified it to players, I personally kick people from the second time they run out of time. Why?

- time is part of the rules, since you are playing on BGA;
- rules are the same for everyone;
- I set the time on my availability in real life. If you waste time (and you know your time limit), you will either learn to play faster or join games with normal/slow speed.

I consider it to be about flexibility and respect.

Then, if you have problems for which you have to wait time or quit the game, people should just say it.
Sometimes I accepted to quit a game in the middle of the match because people needed to go.

It's just a game and just a ranking. If you want to kick, kick. If you want to abandon collectively, do it.

Just remember that everything you do, will affect you :)

What does that mean? I don't understand. No one pains with his hands.

Also, don't kick people who run out of time unless its for the 10th-20th time. I compeltely disagreew ith etoclas.

Then you clearly dont value your time much.
If I join a game with specific setting, I expect it to end with a maximal duration and that's important in my real life. Every player joining also agree on the time limit, so if you timed out and I have other personal constraints that can't wait, why would i wait the 10th time ??

I haven't kicked anyone so far. One time I reminded the opponent that continuously running out of time may affect their reputation.
The answer I got was 'It's fine' and the player repeatedly went over the allotted time by minutes after that :?
But I think I found some kind of solution, though only after the fact:
When a player ignores the clock repeatedly, I give them a 'personal thumbs down' and ask to avoid the player in the future.
However, I would very much like to be able to see how many previous 'time warnings' a player have before I click ACCEPT, but I have not found where to click to see this.

Well, on some beta games, penalties get exaggerated.
