Oh, you mean the preset chat messages... I don't use them.

Anyway, that doesn't do anything. It just displays text which you can happily ignore.

Thanks.. I now have a better idea of what BGA is about. Cheating is ok.
Cool.

I did clarify that the word 'cheating' was perhaps the wrong word. Should have said bad sportsmanship.

You speak as if I havent experienced others running out of time - I have - many times - I give the benefit of the doubt and click tb.. its not hard.
And then they dont lose anything. But then again, Im not desperate to coddle my own ego .. I play to have fun. :D :D :D

As everywhere in the world, you will always have friendly people and you have unfriendly people.
Your example is about friendlyness and not about cheating. You cannot enforce friendlyness. The same as in your local sports-club, in the supermarket, on the train - it can always happen you meet unfriendly people there. You cannot forbid them to go to the supermarket or wherever it's possible for them to engage with somebody.
Check out the Allround-League: https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=7870115 --> a league where you have matches of random games vs. other players in your group. Season 9 registration oct. '25.

So why are you still using that word?

Sadly I have to agree... but what is life without a little contrast? lol

Sorry. I was referring to the first part of the reply to the first part ....

Again, I did say I chose the wrong word when I wrote 'cheating' -

> ' poor sportsmanship ' would have been more appropriate.

Wow... interesting indeed.

Player joined my game.
Greeted player and wished them luck.
Sound on my laptop not working atm.
I am playing a decently fast game with opponent. He takes thinking time. I take thinking time. All good. :D
At one point I had to take a little more time to calculate as I am not quick at math.
At 3 seconds over ( I had a more than minute left on my clock ), the opponent expelled me. I was right there.. After one minute of not playing and the clock ticking down he kicked me at 3 seconds over.. :o

Perhaps there could be a light beside your name that shows you are actually attending the game ..
To expel while your opponent is thinking is just plain rude and desperate... bizarre in fact!

When it is only 2or 3 seconds over time and they havent written anything to you .. let alone answered you or acknowledged you in your game when you wish them luck etc, you know it is a desperate hit to get the win .. They must sit salivating watching the clock ... #mygoodnessme

 I suggest an automatic shift to turn base for a time designated by the game just to give the player a chance to return to the game. Sometimes babies cry or the phone rings or someone knocks on the door or something needs your immediate attention - You cant always say to who and what needs immediate attention " hang on, my game is the priority..."

After xx time of turn based the game could expel the player. If the player doesnt play within a set period, thenhave the game expel them.

The icon that says "BRB I have an emergency" doesnt stop them kicking you either.. so its pretty pointless. And why does it ask you to get back in the game if it then tells you that you cant... ?? Whats that about? :o

You cant return once your time is up on the clock..

What are you talking about? What does "At 3 seconds over ( I had a more than minute left on my clock )" mean? Are you 3 seconds over or do you have 1 minute left??

In reality, you cannot be expelled after 3 seconds. You always get a buffer of 20 seconds. Once an opponent clicks on the Expel button, you get a warning and the opponent has to wait 20 more seconds to expel you.

And this is also not true. Yes, once you are expelled, you can't go back. But if you are over time and haven't been expelled yet, you can get your timer into the plus again after a series of timely moves.

I really don't get all the fuss. If you are over time, then they have a right to kick you. Sure, you MAY have a valid reason (and certainly this should not occur very often), but getting annoyed by other people's lack of sportsmanship is pointless. You can't make someone change their attitude if they haven't broken any rules.

Put simply, if you don't like it, stop playing real time!

Online indicator appears. Also, if the avatar has 3 bars instead, it might mean the other is not attending (on the table)...
