inability to chat via iphone

i sometimes play via my iphone and ive noticed that eventhough i can read other players chat messages, i cannot respond to them. i just dont have any way to post what i have typed.
is this a common problem on here?

Press enter twice and the message will send!

On my Android phone, I can't press enter after a word, but if I add a space after I can!

No problem on mine, Samsung, still using the original keyboard layout.
